Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 pound spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, eggs, garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and set aside on a baking sheet.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
- Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the meatballs are simmering, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Serve meatballs and sauce over cooked spaghetti, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
