Slow-Cooker Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork shoulder, trimmed of excess fat
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Method

  1. Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil, then coat with the spice mixture.
  3. Place the pork shoulder into the slow cooker and add chicken broth and apple cider vinegar.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  5. Shred the pork directly in the slow cooker and mix in the barbecue sauce. Stir to combine.
  6. Allow the pork to cook for an additional 30 minutes on low to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve the pulled pork warm on buns or with your favorite sides.
