Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 12 ounces spaghetti
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides. Transfer to a plate once browned.
  4. In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until meatballs are cooked through.
  6. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions in a pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  7. Serve the meatballs and sauce over spaghetti, garnishing with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
