Simple Sausage and Peppers Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage links, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced red, yellow, and green bell peppers, and onion. Cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  5. Return the sausage to the skillet and pour in the chicken broth. Stir to combine and let cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
