Ingredients
- 2 cups pumpkin, peeled and diced
- 1/2 pound ground chicken
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup scallions, finely chopped
- 24 round dumpling wrappers
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/2 cup soy sauce, for dipping
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
Method
- Steam the pumpkin until tender, about 10 minutes. Let cool slightly, then mash using a fork.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed pumpkin, ground chicken, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, grated ginger, sesame oil, scallions, and white pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Place a heaping teaspoon of filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold in half, and pleat to seal.
- Arrange the dumplings in a bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper, ensuring they do not touch each other. Steam over boiling water for 12 minutes.
- While the dumplings are steaming, prepare the dipping sauce by combining 1/2 cup soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl.
- Serve the dumplings hot with the ginger soy dipping sauce on the side.
