Perfect Homestyle Meatloaf
This homestyle meatloaf is a weekend favorite, offering a comforting and hearty meal that's perfect for leisurely summer days spent at home. It's slow-baked to perfection, ensuring a flavorful and juicy main course.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup, for topping
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, beaten eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
- Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
