Oven-Baked Chicken Parmesan

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix together breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  4. Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, spread marinara sauce on each chicken breast and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
