This one-pan beef brisket is a family favorite, combining rich flavors with minimal cleanup. It's the perfect comfort dish for any night of the week.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds beef brisket, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 1 cup potatoes, diced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
Method
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe pan over medium-high heat.
- Season the brisket on all sides with salt and black pepper.
- Sear the brisket in the hot oil until browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the sliced onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the beef broth, carrots, potatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme to the pan. Stir to combine.
- Return the brisket to the pan, making sure it's partially submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 3 to 3.5 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
