Ingredients

  • 1 cup blanched almonds, finely chopped
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons orange blossom water
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and orange blossom water to the bowl, mixing well to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chopped almonds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop tablespoons of dough and roll into small balls. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust the cookies lightly with powdered sugar before serving.
