These juicy burgers are perfect for any spring evening. Easy to prepare and packed with flavor, they are sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 80% lean
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • 2 cups mixed greens
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pickles, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  2. Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties slightly larger than the buns.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once hot, add the beef patties.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  5. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
  6. Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom bun.
  7. Assemble the burgers with mixed greens, a tomato slice, a beef patty, and pickles. Top with the bun lid.
  8. Serve the burgers immediately, with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top.
