Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
  4. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  5. While the crust is baking, combine the chopped almonds, honey, and pure vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  6. Once the crust is baked, remove it from the oven and spread the almond and honey mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the topping is golden and bubbling.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before using the parchment overhang to lift them out. Cut into 16 squares to serve.
