Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
  • 2 red bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the red and yellow bell peppers, onion, and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables begin to soften.
  4. Stir in the dried oregano and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Pour the chicken broth into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  6. Return the sausage to the skillet and mix with the peppers and broth. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the sausage is fully cooked and the flavors meld.
  7. Season with flaky sea salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
