Classic Beef Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 80/20 blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil, for brushing

Method

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the buns.
  4. Brush the grill or skillet with olive oil, then cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
  5. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the grill or skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. While the patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a patty, sliced tomato, red onion, and the top bun.
