Classic American Peach Cobbler

Ingredients
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved and peaches are juicy. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined.
- Pour the melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour the batter over the butter but do not stir.
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the batter has set.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
